Rhonwen McCormack

Do you have a favorite line or lines from your accepted pieces for The Ginger Collect?
A skeleton riding a skeleton reared up frantically at a skeleton driving a skeleton.

What inspired your piece?
Really aggressive and impatient drivers honking at me from behind.

Who is your most influential writer? Who do you always go back to for inspiration?
Too many to name! But I like Angela Carter and Margaret Atwood a lot.

What season do you find you write the most in?
I have three children. It’s when school is in session, and they are safely out of the house. Holidays – forget it!

What do you want readers to take away from your piece?
Cars are scary!

Do you find writing invigorating or exhausting?
Invigorating! And then exhausting. Like a high-octane aerobics session.

What is your ideal writing environment?
The sofa of my living room, in complete warmth and quiet, with the rain pattering on the windows.

Do you keep any snacks around while you write? If so, what’s your favorite?
No, just lots of coffee!

Do you ever create soundtracks for the piece you’re writing?
Uhhh…… no.

Do you have any future writing plans?
Zillions. I’m also a playwright, and have got several projects in development for that.

You can read Rhonwen McCormack’s piece in Issue Four of The Ginger Collect: Death by PowerPoint.
