Simon Perchik

Simon Perchik.jpgIs there one subject you feel you return to in your writing?
Yes, loss and loneliness

Do you have any previously published pieces you’re particularly proud of?
Yes. But it’s an essay called Magic, Illusion and Other Realities and can be found at

How do you feel about traditional poems and free verse? Which do you feel fits the present time? Can the coincide within one poem?
Both forms appeal to me.

I found the imagery to be extremely bright, though the subject was dark, and this was balanced really well. How did you balance both light and dark with this piece?
Thank you. To me it’s mostly all dark.

What in particular sparked or inspired this piece?
I answer this best in my essay. The short answer is a photograph.
